Two nature centers -- the Ohio Bird Sanctuary and Lowe-Volk Nature Park -- offer year-round programming and exhibits. Home-grown produce and meat can be found in the Galion area, and is available in area stores and farmers markets.
Ohio Bird Sanctuary
3774 Orweiler Road, Mansfield
The Ohio Bird Sanctuary is a non-profit haven for the native birds, nature preserve and a living museum. Our team is dedicated to caring for and rehabilitating Ohio native birds, protecting natural habitat, and creating opportunities to engage with nature. Our mission is achieved through educating the public, managing a 90 acre nature preserve, and actively aiding sick and injured birds back to health. Lowe-Volk Nature Center
State Route 598, Leesville, 5 miles north of Galion
The Lowe-Volk Nature Center opened in Dec. 2002. The building has an eco-friendly design, and contains a passive solar heat and light system, an above ground leach bed and parallam beams. It currently features 25 exhibits on various topics, including live wildlife. As the "hub" of Crawford Park District activities, many school groups utilize the Nature Center and surrounding park for field trips.
